Aston is my long awaited son of Lexie and Sh CH Littlethorn Continental. I was really excited about this combination as I really like what Tally has produced to bitches of similar type and breeding to Lex. Tally has also sired Champions in both show and agility and highly successful flyball dogs too so I had high hopes for this little boy!
I knew I wanted a black/white boy from this litter which ended up consisting of just 3 boys and the other two were blue so I didn't get a choice! That said I am more than happy with Aston, he is exactly what I had hoped for! He is a typical Lexie pup...full of energy and 'fizz'...does everything at warp speed with a temperament to die for. There isn't a single bad bone in this boys' body.
Unfortunately, despite being placed well in the showrings as a puppy and qualifying for Crufts he was withdrawn from the ring and castrated following surgery on his shoulder as a youngster. Hugely dissapointing when, in all other aspects, he was exactly what I had been hoping for as a future show/flyball and stud dog. I made the agonising decision to let him go just before his first birthday which broke my heart but as fate would have it, he came back to me a couple of months later and I knew he was back to stay.
Aston made his open flyball debut at Eastham in June at 19 months old and hasn't looked back since...he is running consistent low 4 second times and earned his Flyball Dog award first time out followed by his Intermediate just 3 weeks later...1200 points in 3 weekends! We were all more than a little gutted when we had to leave him at home for the European Championships in July as he didn't have a passport :o(
Aston's registered name 'Volante' comes from a model of the famous Luxury car manufacturers Aston Martin, his litter brothers are also named after Aston Martin Models...Virage and Vanquish. Volante translates as 'flying' in both French and Italian which is very apt as anyone who has seen him down a flyball lane will tell you!
